We found the El Retiro with difficulty as the only signage on the road were some illegible flags blowing. We then had to negotiate a rather extraordinary difficult circular entry. It was not clear from the entrance exactly what was on offer. We were then able to decipher a second row of flags and were able to work out that they said Senda which meant nothing even with the help of a dictionary. We were astonished by the cost of 20 Euros which is totally out of line with what one pays in the rest of Europe and Spain. So after some debate we decided not to go in. We are enthusiastic students of garden history so we went instead to the La Concepcion Garden which cost a modest 3 Euros and is superb.ant
Went to Senda on April 18th 2006, had a fabulous 6 hours. Well worth the entrance fee, if you consider the cost of maintenance and keeping all the animals in good health. Previous entry by anonymous about fee is a bit narrowminded, we were glad to pay the 20 euro's, only to keep the parc in it's fabulous setting and consider it as a sort of support. Enthousiastic students of garden history? hmmmmm..........
